If you're looking to take your sewing, upcycling and bag making skills to the next level, this go-at-your-own-pace course is for you. 

This course is not a rigid step by step process... it is a detailed framework designed to empower the maker to make decisions based on the materials, function and aesthetic you desire. This skills covered within this proven upcycling framework don't just provide the skills to create one bag from waste, they provide the knowledge and understanding of each step so you can adapt your next bag to the ever-changing materiality of upcycled materials.

*this course is the same curriculum as UPSKILL+UPCYCLE Online Guided Course & In Person Guided Course. This course option provides the same content but allows you to go at your own pace, rather than a structured week-by-week course. You are free to cruise through the course at your own pace, asking questions through the messenger section if you need to :)

🌍 LEARNING & BAG OUTCOMES 

Over four modules we cover Design, Pattern Making and Bag Construction so you not only finish with a brand new upcycled bag, but have the skills to repeat the process again and again. 

Following the framework, you have full control on the specifications of the design and process, so you can learn the decisions and troubleshooting required when working with various waste materials (including, but not limited to textiles, tarps, banners, plastics). Yum.

• How to create bag pocket, straps, bases, lining and accessory connections.
• Your badass custom designed bag.
• Skills to adapt and repeat the process for different shapes and material outcomes.

♻️ CLASS FORMAT

Work through the lessons at your own pace, asking questions as you need. Your access to the course curriculum and community has no limit, so dive in and continue to engage with the community over time! Each module focuses on a different learning outcome that we can apply outside this framework, so you can continue to tackle waste with your own projects at home.

💚 WHO IT'S FOR 

This class is for beginner to intermediate sewers. You must know the very basics of using a sewing machine to start the course. 

The curriculum and format is designed to meet you at your current skill level. If you recently learned to sew we can guide you through the fundamentals of each process. If you're more experienced, we can push your creativity for more complex designs and manufacturing processes. 

♻️ COURSE BREAKDOWN

Each lesson module has a milestone you need to hit in the previous lesson before moving along. You are free to browse through the entire curriculum before starting, but we recommend following the milestones in order :)

Introduction: Course overview and bag design lessons // Milestone: Bag Size Done

Pattern: Pattern making time! With your bag size ready to roll we detail how to create a bag pattern to bring your design to life. // Milestone: Patterns Completed

Bag Outer: The making process begins. We bring the external components of the bag together. // Milestone: Pre-Assembly One. Straps and Bag Outer Completed and sewn together.

Bag Inner: Cut and sew the inner details of the bag. This will include the lining, pockets and interior details your bag design requires. // Milestone: Pre-Assembly Two. Bag Lining and Pockets Done. 

Assembly: Final Assembly. We bring Pre-Assembly One and Two together to create your final bag! // Milestone: Bag Done!!!

THE NUMBERS 

Included in the $140 ticket is access to INTO Community online platform, the four modules for you to watch and revisit at any time, plus chat access to Into Carry through INTO Community messenger (for any tedious questions :).
