Is the idea of mending your own clothing daunting? If yes, we’ve got good news for you. If not, we’ve got good news for you too. Learning the skills to fix your own clothes might sound difficult or boring but we’re here to show you how easy and fun it can be.

*Appliqué is a fancy word for patches

There are a wide range of techniques of varying difficulty that we can all learn to bring clothing back to life. One of our favorites is creating your own patches from excess textiles. Something we can do at home with a needle and thread or a domestic sewing machine.

Both Reverse Appliqué and Appliqué can be done with a domestic sewing machine (as pictured above) or with a hand stitching needle and thread. Which takes a little more patience but is a great way to get started on your patching journey.

To demonstrate some examples of DIY patches, we have a couple of bag released coming next week to show how we can not only extend the life of garments, but add some style to them in the process.
